Usually, you associate these words with negative connotations.  However, there are other connotations that could possibly make these words a little different.  In the english language, we have the opportunity to see things in both a negative and positive manner.

Here are the Keys to Success in life laid out a little different than you may have seen before.  Consider this!

1.  Cheat a little extra time from work for your kids and spouse.  No one on their death bed is wishing for extra time at work.

2.  Swear to do my best each and every day.

3.  Lie in bed each night and realize how blessed I am, even with all the challenges and opportunities.

4.  Steal a little time each day for myself and God.

5.  Drink in all knowledge you can, for it can NEVER be stolen from you.

In this generation a little extra thought and humor can go a long way.  It is time we all got focused on those things in our life that will be valued forever.  We will not leave a legacy if we do not focus on others and God.

A man was exploring caves by the Seashore. In one of the caves he found a  canvas bag with a bunch of hardened clay balls. It was like someone had rolled clay balls and left them out in the sun to bake. They didn’t look  like much, but they intrigued the man, so he took the bag out of the cave with him. As he strolled along the beach, he would throw the clay balls one at a time out into the ocean as far as he could.

He thought little about it,  until he dropped one of the clay balls and it cracked open on a rock. Inside was a beautiful, precious stone!

Excited, the man started breaking open the remaining clay balls. Each contained a similar treasure. He found thousands of dollars worth of jewels in the 20 or so clay balls he had left.

Then it struck him.  He had been on the beach a long time. He had thrown maybe 50 or 60 of the clay balls with their hidden treasure into the ocean  waves. Instead of thousands of dollars in treasure, he could have taken home tens of thousands, but he had just thrown it away!

It’s like that with people..  We look at someone, maybe even ourselves, and we see the external clay vessel.  It doesn’t look like much from the outside. It isn’t always beautiful or sparkling, so we discount it.  We see that person as less important than someone more beautiful or stylish or well known or wealthy.  But we have not taken the time to find the  treasure hidden inside that person…

There is a treasure in each and every one of us. If we take the time to get to know that person, and if we ask God to show us that person the way He sees them, then the clay begins to peel away and the brilliant gem begins to shine forth.  May we not come to the end of our lives and find out that we have thrown  away a fortune in friendships because the gems were hidden in bits of clay.

May we see the people in our world as God sees them. I am so blessed by the gems of friendship I have with you. Thank you for looking beyond my clay vessel.

You have a choice in life.  You can choose to work for someone else (W2); Or you can work for yourself (1099).  Those who own their own business understand the benefit of owning their own business.

During the turn of the 1900s 94% of people owned their own business (usually a farm [1099]).  By the end of the century 96% of people worked for someone else (W2).  This fundamental shift in tax base allowed the federal government to grow unnecessary and blown up programs.  However, the resulting lack of entrepreneurship dramatically affected the ability for the tax base to grow.

We have had 13 or more recessions or dips in the economy.  Each time one of these struggles came, it was the American Entrepreneur that pulled us out of the ditch.  It will happen every time we struggle as an economy.  The ingenuity and persistence of the American Entrepreneur will find a way to dig us out of this challenge as well.

Entrepreneurs are those that create business and jobs.  That creates the tax base that the government needs to operate.

Taxes were instituted when the small business owner dominated the landscape.  Therefore, the laws associated with taxes were written exclusively with the small business owner in mind.  All of the advantages available for taxes reside completely with the business owner.

Moreover, new tax laws are specifically targeting how you structure your small business.  Most individuals (92%) overpay their taxes.  Even most small businesses overpay on their taxes (88%).  Not knowing your specific tax laws can be expensive at best.

There are specific tax benefits of owning your own business.  Even if you are a W2 employee, you can own a small business or a home based business and as a result benefit from all the great advantages of owning your own business.

Don’t make the mistake of over-paying for your taxes.  Get great help or advice from a tax professional as to the benefits of owning your own business and save thousands by doing so.

I have heard time and time again.  “I want financial security!”

What is the definition of financial security?  To many it is a job, to others it is residual income and to a small group it is the ability to make income when I am sick or dead regardless of my efforts.

My definition of Financial Security is the ability to wake up on whatever continent I want, with whomever I want and then do what I want without having to worry about my bank account.

That may seem unrealistic to some.  However, if you want true Financial Security, you must first examine your debt load.  If your passive income is larger than your debt load, you have step one of financial security.  However, you still have a long way to go.

You can either raise your income or lower your debt load to accomplish this.  What if one system could accomplish both of these, raise your income and lower your debt load?

Many people make resolutions at the beginning of the year.  The resolution to “become thin” or “get Healthy” is probably the most common.  Close to those two are the resolutions to “make more money” or “get wealthy”.

All of these are GOOD resolutions.  The problem with them is to a large extent they will become March fodder.  There are many reasons for this:

  1. You just forget.
  2. Life gets in the way.
  3. Some emergency happens.
  4. No support.

The list can go on for days.  What can’t go on for days is the realization that another year has passed and resolutions again have failed.

Here are 8 good ways to ensure that resolutions are kept.  We will discuss them further later in the text:

  1. Don’t make a resolution.  Set attainable goals.
  2. Find a person that WILL hold you accountable, a workout partner.
  3. Make a serious investment in your goal set.
  4. Block specific time on your calendar to address it.
  5. Immerse yourself in the industry that surrounds that goal.
  6. Make a commitment to delay your gratification.
  7. Change your thinking toward the goal.  Think about how you love the result AND the work that produces it.
  8. Reward yourself for the attainment of all minor and major milestones.

Each of these steps is critical to ensuring that you reach the dreams that you have for yourself.  Let’s work through these points and expound on each as we go.

First, it is time for all of us to stop making resolutions and become resolute.  If it isn’t written down, it isn’t a resolution or goal.  Set an attainable set of goals that you can reach and measure.  Ingrain this in your soul.  Setting goals, NOT resolutions, should become a lifestyle.

Next, find someone who will hold you accountable to what you have written down.  Here is the real key to this whole thing.  Find someone who won’t patronize you.  You don’t need a patsy here.  It is key that you find someone who will push you and inspire you to be your very best.  Life is too short for you to waste your time here with someone who will “let” you do whatever you want.  Get someone close to you who will be your drill sergeant and cheer leader.

This is the one where most people suffer, investment.  Spend enough money that it hurts.  You have to make a financial commitment to most goals.  If you need coaching, training or whatever, do it!!!  If you are serious about your goals and your resolutions, you have to be serious with your wallet.  The money will come back in plenty of time.  You only have one lifetime to do anything.  Commit to excellence in all things.

Block out time to work on the achievement.  Now, when I say block out time, I do not mean set aside some time if it exists.  I mean BLOCK the time.  For you to succeed at this thing you are attempting, you need to create space around it.  Time that you can think, plan, do and review all aspects of the thing you are attempting to accomplish.  Time is your MOST important asset.  Do not forget that for you to be helpful to others, you must spend time on yourself and with yourself to become a useful tool to those whom you wish to aid.

Take a look at those around you that have what you want.  Who has the body you want?  Who has the success you want?  Who can teach you the nutritional facts that you need?  Who are the experts and gurus in the industry you are interested in?  What materials are available to read, watch or use?  After you have answered these questions, get involved in the industry.  Immerse yourself in the knowledge of that industry.  Don’t be afraid to ask questions or send e-mails to find out what you need to find out.

Many people attempt to keep up with their neighbors during their work toward their goals.  If you want to really achieve what you set out to attain, you must delay that gratification.  The keep up with the Jones mentality will hinder or block your ability to reach your dreams.  If you have a neighbor who boasts or brags about what they have, avoid them.  It is a form of bullying.  Realize that and move on.  March to YOUR drum, not theirs.  Understand that, that will power that you use during that contact will payoff for many years to come instead of a temporary gratification that is just not worth it.

What is worth it is to think differently about your goal.  Think about how you love the result.  Think about how good the work will feel after you have reached the goal.  Think about every hard thing you have done and accomplished in your life and how it was worth it, (the work that is).  Think about the hardest thing you have ever done.  What did you learn from that experience?  In this world of the 4 hour work week and entitlement all over the place, how tough can it be to stand out, be better or just squash the competition?  Just think differently.

Different people reward themselves differently, so you will have to come up with what is a reward.  A night out with the family;  A night out alone;  A new bike;  A new car;  A ski trip;  A sail boat;  A yacht;  A simple trip to the mountains;  These are all rewards that can be compelling for you.  When you have reached one of these milestones, reward yourself.  This will keep your motivation high and enable you to keep on keeping on, on your road to becoming a resolution buster.

Finally, none of this can be accomplished if you don’t chooose to be a doer.  Choose now to change your life and become who you really can become.  Never stop believing in you.  If you don’t there are only so many who ever will.  There will be times in this process that you will NEED to be selfish.  Cherish the right to do so in order to become what you need to become for yourself and others.  I know that I can count on each of you to become resolution busters this year and make this year your best year ever.

Part of any plan to create wealth and personal net worth is the ability and need to control spending and debt load.  Most people don’t understand how much interest they will pay on their amortized debt over time.  It is critical to understanding wealth that one totally understand this.  They key to understanding this is to have a system that tells you exactly where you are at overtime.

In the past, those who wanted to do this had to do it manually.  Some used an envelope system to manage their budget but did not accelerate the process.  Recently, a lot of so called experts have come out with a “roll up” method of reducing debt.  While these systems ultimately work, they are only a manual process and do not take into account which debt SHOULD be paid next according to effectiveness and interest rate.

The key to any system is the ability for YOU to be able to monitor where you are, where you came from and where you are heading.

I have reviewed a number of systems and one stands out.  Wealth Infusion Network is the one that I would recommend as far as a system that is able to do the things I mentioned and more.

In the past couple of months I have heard many different ideas on what is THE most important part of business.  Here are some of those ideas:

  • Customer Service
  • Building Trust
  • Employees
  • The team you build
  • The product you are selling
  • Yada, yada, yada

Let me give you an example of why I disagree.

First, if you have no awareness and therefore no sales, you need zero customer service.  You can’t build trust if you have no one to build trust with.  You don’t need employees if you don’t have anything to sell or manufacture.  The team you build can be the greatest collection of guys and gals on earth, but if you have no marketing there is no money to keep them around.  I remember the “pet rock”.  It sold over a million units.  During the 70′s (and we can make the case for drugs about this later) we sold pen holders that were cowpiles.  So, the product rarely matters.

Marketing matters.  Here is the concrete example.  In the early 90′s IBM was selling OS/2.  It was a 32 bit operating system that does all the things that operating systems are just beginning to do today and it ran Windows within it.  That was a superior product in every way.  However, IBM has proven time and again that they do not know how to market to the masses and specifically to the final or end user.  If they had marketed correctly they would have dominated the operating system market completely.

IBM had customer service, world class customer service that no one matches.  IBM was THE most trusted name in computing and still may be, I haven’t looked at the latest industry reports.  However, trusting IBM is NOT an issue.  IBM takes great care of their employees.  The TEAM overall they have is one of the best in the industry.

The product was as cheap and user friendly as any on the market and did more.  OS/2 was awesome.  It blew away Windows on stage in front of thousands of geeks at Comdex.

So, what was the real issue?

Marketing!

Microsoft took a verifiably inferior product and kicked IBM proverbial…well, you know what happen.

So, the key is getting the right message to the right people  The product, while important, is so small an equation in the end sale that it might scare you. (Just ask Bill Gates).

Marketing starts the ball rolling even before the first sale is made.
