It is by acts and not by ideas that people live. — Anatole France – French novelist (1844 – 1924)

Your actions speak so loud, I cannot hear your words

I hear not what you say, but the volume of your actions cannot be supressed

All of these are good quotations of what is probably the biggest problem in our society.  People or companies that say one thing and then DO another.

We have all been around those who are this way.  They are frustrating to say the least.  And,  I would venture to say that we have each done it once or twice.  However, consistently saying one thing and doing another is a serious issue and we need to separate ourselves with those who continue to do things opposite to the words that they speak.

Dealing with these individuals is, has and always will be,  a difficult situation.  Therefore we need to take steps to identify those who CANNOT and will not make a positive change.

Here are the rules:

  • Make sure your actions match your words
  • Research the past of any person/company that you are counting on for results.
  • Before you put out money, check with others who have dealt with this entity.
  • Before you invest emotionally, check out the stability of who you are dealing with.
  • Always measure the words of an individual with the actions that they take.

In this module I am not saying become skeptical.  However, I do believe the cost of research up front is so minimal compared to the expense of the challenges and issues over the long haul.

I have talked about Time Wasters in the past.  A majority of those that are incongruent between their words and actions fall into this category of Time Wasters.  However, keep in mind that your time, emotions, capabilities and path are very valuable.  Don’t give them away or sell them too cheap, especially to those who are incongruent.

Make sure you are congruent and your results will match your effort and plan.

I invite lots of comments on this post.  Wow, I can imagine the maelstrom already.
