We live in a wonderful country with opportunities that don’t exit in most parts of the world.  We have the privilage to live our lives and pursue our dreams unfettered by others.  We can aspire and achieve as we please.
Our country has come from humble beginings.
A glimpse of 100 years ago, in 1908:
  • we expected we would live to about 47 years old,
  • the model “T” was first produced and there were only 8,000 cars on the roads (144 miles of paved roads), maximum speed was 10 mph,
  • there was only 90 million of us,
  • the Wright brothers were just becoming known,
  • only 14% of homes had a bathtub, 8% had a telephone,
  • the average wage was 22 cents/hour
  • 95% of births happened in the home
  • the American flag had just 45 stars
  • 30 people lived in Las Vegas, NV
  • only 6% of the population graduated high school
  • there were only 236 murders reported in the entire country
  • pharmacists said,”Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health.”
  • eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic help.

We’ve come a long way.  It has been an amazing century.  I’m pleased to be on the earth at this time.

I invite you to share with those less fortunate by giving to our local food bank.
It would be my wish that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by family and loved ones.
Thanks to all who have helped make this a prosperous you for someone else!
