For Those Who Wish to Improve

There are experiences in our life that really pound us down.  When those “experiences” happen we can either fold, run away, fight or find another solution.

You never know how your reactions will be perceived, but you can always know that someone is watching.

I love the anonymous quote, “You May Be One Person To The World, But You May Be The World To One Person.”

That alone should eliminate the hopelessness that seems to come with depression and suicide.  But, alas, it doesn’t.

As Germany was pounding the brits, we can all quote Winston Churchill as he said, “Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, give in. Never give in. Never give in. Never give in.”

I want us all to think of some experiences in our life where we were “temporarily” hopeless.  Now, think back to how that situation was temporary at best.  It is NEVER hopeless.

In Star Trek there is a term called the Kobayashi Maru.  I don’t know the exact spelling of it, I could even Google it if I chose.  It is the “No Win Scenario”.  You are placed in a situation where there is no possible way of winning to see how you react to it.

Well, that doesn’t exist.  There is ALWAYS a way to pull out a victory!!  There is ALWAYS hope.

Many of you have heard that it is not over until the fat lady sings.  But, I tell you there is always hope.  I love this cartoon.  I am sure many of you have seen it, but for those that have not:

Never Give Up!!

Never Give Up!!

This frog knows exactly what I am saying.  fight until you are dead for those things you believe in and want to achieve in your life.  Your persistence will scare away the crooks, whiners and complainers that try to hold you down in life.  Cutoff their method of chewing you up!

I challenge you in the coming weeks to stare down that which makes you hopeless and let that situation, person or event know that you are gonna kick butt and take no prisoners yourself.  Try harder than you have EVER tried, work harder than you think you can and succeed at your own Kobayashi Maru.

And, I want you to bookmark this post, come back here and comment on your success.  I want you to brag openly about how you overcame the unbeatable foe.  How did you beat that situation.  How is your life and confidence been changed as a result of your unwillingness to let that person or situation take you down.

NO ONE can take you down without YOUR permission permanently.  You have to give it to them.

Or just Rob.

Oscar Wilde said, “One’s real life is often the life that one does not lead.”

97% of people never reach financial freedom.  I think that largely that happens as a result of NOT doing what we love.

Our society no longer honors the apprentice.  We need to succeed right away.  We have to have the large house and the shiny new cars and boats.

This incorrect philosophy has created a group of unhappy workers.  People who have no joy.

Moreover, after the accumulation starts and the family starts, the person has a very small possibility of returning to what they love because of the underlaying expense structure they have incurred.

If you want to succeed, REALLY succeed, you must match your career, goals and dreams.

Here are the steps:
#1.  Identify what you really want to do.
#2.  Identify your values
#3.  Write your goals
#4.  Write your daily affirmation
#5.  Create a plan of action
#6.  Just do it!

The point is that it is NEVER to late to chase your dreams.  I can be too late if you refuse to lose your pride and current possessions to ultimately reach your desired goals.

I tell people all the time, if you are not willing to lose everything in pursuit of your dreams, they are NOT worth chasing.

Live what you love and love what you live!

Vince Lombardi captured the essence of winning in this speech placed in 1970. So much so that it is considered one of the top 100 Speeches of all time.

He was so charismatic that that he was placed on a US postage stamp.

Here is the text of that speech:

“Winning is not a sometime thing; it’s an all the time thing. You don’t win once in a while; you don’t do things right once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.

“There is no room for second place. There is only one place in my game, and that’s first place. I have finished second twice in my time at Green Bay, and I don’t ever want to finish second again. There is a second place bowl game, but it is a game for losers played by losers. It is and always has been an American zeal to be first in anything we do, and to win, and to win, and to win.

“Every time a football player goes to play his trade he’s got to play from the ground up – from the soles of his feet right up to his head. Every inch of him has to play. Some guys play with their heads. That’s O.K. You’ve got to be smart to be number one in any business. But more importantly, you’ve got to play with your heart, with every fiber of your body. If you’re lucky enough to find a guy with a lot of head and a lot of heart, he’s never going to come off the field second.

“Running a football team is no different than running any other kind of organization – an army, a political party or a business. The principles are the same. The object is to win – to beat the other guy. Maybe that sounds hard or cruel. I don’t think it is.”

“It is a reality of life that men are competitive and the most competitive games draw the most competitive men. That’s why they are there – to compete. To know the rules and objectives when they get in the game. The object is to win fairly, squarely, by the rules – but to win.”

“And in truth, I’ve never known a man worth his salt who in the long run, deep down in his heart, didn’t appreciate the grind, the discipline. There is something in good men that really yearns for discipline and the harsh reality of head to head combat.”

“I don’t say these things because I believe in the ‘brute’ nature of man or that men must be brutalized to be combative. I believe in God, and I believe in human decency. But I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour – his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear – is that moment when he has to work his heart out in a good cause and he’s exhausted on the field of battle – victorious.”

Vince Lombardi

I say he is right?

Let me know what you say…

Never give up on your dreams

Tennyson captured this in a unique way.  In his quote below he realized that persistence is the key.

“No rock so hard but that a little wave may beat admission in a thousand years.”

Lord Alfred Tennyson
